Achraf Hakimi is performing very well for Borussia Dortmund this season and is hoping to make his return to Real Madrid after his loan deal expires. Achraf spoke in an interview with MARCA and supported Marcelo, who is having quite probably the worst season of his career.
“I’m never going to criticize Marcelo, not by a long shot and the criticisms towards him seems a little unfair. I don’t believe he deserves them because he is a legend, he’s a legend of Real Madrid,” said Achraf.
The defender is trying to replicate Carvajal’s success in Germany after the Spanish right-back spent one season with Bayern Leverkusen before becoming a crucial player for Real Madrid.
“Carvajal is a reference, his career is an example, all that he is doing and achieving. He went away like me and became a man and became a professional player at Bayer Leverkusen. I am trying to become a top footballer like Carvajal and things are going well for the moment,” said the defender.
Achraf’s ability to play on both flanks makes him an interesting addition to Real Madrid’s roster for next season, although it’s true that Carvajal and Odriozola seem to be the team’s bets for the right-back spot. Marcelo still needs a reliable backup even and even though Reguilon is performing well this season, Achraf’s performances in Germany will probably help him secure that spot.
