Real Madrid wonder kid Vinicius Junior completed a brilliant performance during the team’s 4-2 win against Girona in the first leg of the Copa del Rey Quarterfinals. He assisted Karim Benzema on Madrid’s last goal and was fouled for a penalty in what ended up being the team’s second.
“He’s one of a kind and he’s doing everything that’s asked of him. He gets in behind well and he’s doing a fantastic job, particularly defensively. He’s an important player for us and we hope he can keep up his good form,” said Odriozola after the game.
“We try to help him because he’s star potential. If he keeps enjoying football the sky will be the limit for him,” added Lucas Vazquez when asked about his teammate.
Real Madrid coach Santiago Solari also praised his player during the press conference.
“He arrived here aged 17 and his development has been both amazing and surprising. We have to look after him and make sure that his potential is consistent. His most experienced teammates have to help him, they’re the ones who deserve the most praise for his adaptation,” explained the coach.
