Vinicius satisfied with current role with club

Vinicius was interviewed after Real’s 4-2 road win over Espanyol, another match in which he started. The first quote was in response to a question about whether he believes he is an everyday starter.

“No, I just arrived not long ago. I am playing more and I’m happy.”

”I want Real Madrid to win and whoever is the best player will play.”

Vinicius seems to have the right attitude. Even though he’s been getting the start for the past couple of weeks in the face of injuries, he still is willing to concede that he may not be at the point to start every match yet. He has done very well, which bodes well for his future as he’s still only 18.

Solari praises Benzema’s performance and his two goals against Espanyol

Santi Solari was asked about Karim Benzema’s performance on Sunday in the club’s win in Catalunya, to which Solari took to the opportunity to praise him.

“He always makes complete performances, but he has also scored two beautiful goals.”

“We totally trust in him and he is demonstrating all of his quality more than ever all this season.”

Benzema played one of the best matches I’ve seen him play and certainly the best match he’s featured in this season. After so much criticism this season, he has been great the past few matches. This match was the crescendo of Benz’s performances as of late.

And it wasn’t just because of the brace that Benzema should receive praise for after this win. He was all over the box and creating all kinds of chances. He was also directly responsible for setting up Bale’s goal.

Here’s to hoping that prime Benzema is back and the woes that he has faced are behind him. He might not always turn out performances like this one, but hopefully it helps the striker and goals problem Real has been faced with somewhat.

Solari gives brief update on Ramos injury, hopeful it is just minor

Santi Solari was also asked during his post-match press conference about Ramos’ injury that sent him off just after the second half of play resumed.

“He has a knock and has not been able to continue, but we hope it is a light injury.”

”Hopefully he can be ready for the cup this week against Girona.”

Ramos was subbed off for Nacho, but not before scoring another header earlier in the first half. It’s crucial to lose your captain, especially when he has been scoring goals, but it’s even more so when Varane was sent off with a red card.

With Varane missing the next league match against Alaves, it’s critical that they don’t lose another center back to injury.

There will likely be an update on Ramos before Wednesday’s match against Girona, we hope for the best as always.
