Gareth Bale’s agent Jonathan Barnett talked to the magazine Madridista Real and revealed that the Welsh star never wanted to leave the club.
“No, Gareth never wanted to leave Real Madrid. By the end of the 2017/18 season some people were unfair but he always felt as an important player for the team. He just never wanted to leave,” explained Barnett.
Bale openly talked about his role in the team and his future right after Madrid conquered the Champions League title last season, although it’s true that he only talked about a potential move when asked about the possibility of being a reserve. However, the press focused on Cristiano Ronaldo’s quotes after the Portuguese star suggested that the match against Liverpool had been his last.
Barnett also shared his thoughts on the Spanish press and the fans.
“Some the fans have been angry at him and maybe that’s been unfair, but in reality they’ve realized they were wrong, he’s a superstar and definitely a Real Madrid caliber player. Some reporters had an agenda against him and that’s been unpleasant. I guess they were jealous and that’s why they had such an agenda,” concluded Barnett.
Bale came back from injury last Sunday and scored a beautiful goal for Real Madrid, who are hoping to have the Welsh attacker back in full form now that the real race for titles begins.
