Villareal vs Real Madrid: Match Thread!

FINALLY! After the dreaded winter break we are returning to league play as Real Madrid travel to 18th place Villareal to play our game in hand. This isn’t the ideal time to try to squeeze in another game, but personally I am glad because I’ve never been a fan of having a game in hand for weeks or months at a time when there are much needed points at stake. Which is always.

There has been some debate and chatter about how the guys will respond coming off of a little break. Will we carry the momentum with us after recently picking up our first trophy of the season at the Club World Cup? Or will we have lost momentum and be stuffed with pies and jamon after a bit of a break? I am feeling slightly pessimistic and think we will start off slow and disjointed, but of course I hope I am wrong. It will also be interesting to see how our boy Casemiro responds after returning from injury. Will Isco get any minutes since Asensio is out? How about Own-Goal-Creator Vinicius?

Let’s grab these three points and get back home - we’ve got another game in just three days!
