Achraf Hakimi has been completing impressive performances for Borussia Dortmund this season. It’s fair to say that almost nobody expected him to establish himself as an undisputed starter in the Bundesliga right off the bat and not only he’s done that but he’s also been one of Dortmund’s best players this season. His agent has talked about his future in quotes from Bild.

“Initially we agreed a two-year loan deal, but we have to accept that he will return to Real Madrid. I want to say that he’s extremely thankful to Dortmund because they gave him the opportunity to develop,” says Alejandro Camaño.

Real Madrd have depth in the flanks, so Los Blancos will have to make room for Achraf if they want to keep him next season. Carvajal and Odriozola seem to be a lock for the right-back spot and Achraf’s a right-back, even though his versatility allows him to play on the left, where Sergio Reguilon is also playing with confidence now that Marcelo’s form has gotten worse.

All in all, Real Madrid will have to make some tough decisions next summer if they want to keep Achraf. Is he better than Odriozola and Reguilon? Will Marcelo stay? Achraf certainly has the potential to become a starter for Los Blancos, so the board and the coaching staff will have to evaluate their options next June.
