Real Madrid coach Santiago Solari talked to the press ahead of the team’s match against Girona in the return leg of the Copa del Rey Quarterfinals which will be played this Thursday. Solari answered Pep Guardiola’s quotes after Manchester City’s coach said that Juventus, Barcelona and Bayern have been the best teams of the decade.

“It seems a deliberate omission to me...” said Solari. ”Madrid is the best club in the last century and therefore also the best club in history, and also in the last decade,” added the coach.

Los Blancos have conquered four of the last five Champions League titles and yet Guardiola did not mention them because “Bayern, Juventus and Barcelona have won La Liga and the cups every season.”

Madrid will face Girona holding a 4-2 lead on aggregate after their comeback win in the first leg. However, Solari knows that the tie isn’t over and that his players need to take care of business if they want to advance.

“I expect a difficult game against Girona because there are no easy matches in the cup or the league, every team wants to qualify for the next phase. We’re going to put in a serious performance like in the first leg and try to get the result and secure qualification,” explained the coach, who also revealed that Ramos isn’t injured.

“Sergio is fine, it was a scare because it was a very heavy blow from behind, but he’s trained very well,” said Solari.

Real Madrid have a healthy roster —with the exception of Vallejo— but Solari might decide to make some rotations for this game.
