Modric scores in Croatia’s win 3-0 over Hungary on Thursday
Luka Modric found himself on the goal sheet against Hungary in their EURO qualifier on Thursday. Just five minutes into the match, Modric stepped up and scored quite an unusual goal for himself.
He was able to make the challenge, tackle, and actually ended up scoring from inside the box. Certainly not something you see from Modric when it comes to him scoring goals.
We are not used to seeing Modric score inside the box but his goal from yesterday game is beautiful anyway. ⚽️ pic.twitter.com/r9I5rfxFmk

Hazard assists twice on Thursday in Belgium’s 9-0 drubbing against San Marino
Eden Hazard also found himself on the scoresheet in Thursday’s EURO qualifier when he assisted twice against San Marino. Both assists came in the first half.
The first was a slight pass to Romelu Lukaku, who actually did most of the work in the box to get the goal. Hazard’s second was from the right corner of the box and his slick pass found Leicester’s Youri Tielemans foot for the goal.
Before he was subbed off after the half, Hazard was involved in many of the buildups to the six goals that Belgium scored in the first half of play.
Valverde shines in Uruguay’s 1-0 win over Peru
Fede Valverde was all over the pitch in Friday’s friendly against Peru. He was arguably Uruguay’s best player, outside of Los Angeles FC’s Brian Rodriguez who scored the lone goal.
As the highlight video shows below, he made so many wise choices in buildup and passing. He continues to impress every time he steps onto the pitch and he’s showing just how special he can become for Real Madrid and Uruguay.

Bale, Casemiro, and Varane play full 90 minutes
While they didn’t find the scoresheet or really stand out in particular, these three all played 90 minutes for their countries.
In Wales’ 1-1 EURO qualifier 1-1 draw with Slovakia, Bale had a couple moments to get Wales chances. One in particular was a great run down the right side where he then crossed to Wigan’s Kieffer Moore, who missed the net just wide. Bale will face Modric on Sunday as the qualifiers for next year’s European international tournament kicks off.
France also played in a EURO qualifier, a 1-0 French win over Iceland where Raphael Varane played the whole match.
Casemiro played in Brazil’s friendly with on Thursday facing Senegal. He and Brazil play another friendly on Sunday against Nigeria. Much like the Copa America, Casemiro was paired in a two-man midfield with Arthur. Casemiro looked very good as usual. The two of them make a strong defensive pairing and it will likely be this way for several years for Brazil.
Germany played on Wednesday in a friendly against Argentina but Toni Kroos was not in the German squad at all. Germany plays their EURO qualifier against Estonia. Luka Jovic did not make the Serbia squad for their qualifier.
Spain also play their qualifier on Saturday against Norway.
The international break continues through the weekend and into Tuesday, with both more friendlies and EURO qualifiers underway. So, we will most likely more of these Real Madrid faces in the international matches that follow.
