Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos talked after Spain’s 1-1 draw against Norway and discussed the rumors suggesting that he wants to feature in the 2020 Olympic Games to represent his country. Ramos didn’t deny those rumors.
“I think it’s too early to talk about the Olympic Games, it would be too hurried. Any player who’s given that chance they just wouldn’t reject. There’s still a long way to go and we’ll see what happens, but it’s a beautiful idea,” said Ramos when asked about the reports.
There’s a bit of controversy around these reports because usually Spain give priority to the players who featured in the U21 Spanish national team to earn a spot in the Olympic Games.
Still, Ramos became the most capped player in the history of the Spanish national team and it will be hard for the Spanish Football Federation to keep him out of the event if he really wants to be involved, something which remains to be seen especially considering that Spain will also compete in the 2020 UEFA Euro as well.
