El Clasico between Barcelona and Real Madrid could be postponed until December 18th

Neither La Liga nor the RFEF want the match to be played on October 26th.

La Liga asked the Spanish Football Federation —RFEF— this Wednesday to move the upcoming El Clasico between FC Barcelona and Real Madrid to the Spanish capital amid the protests in Catalonia, and while it looks like the match won’t be played at the Bernabeu, it also seems less and less likely that the match takes place on October 26th.

Both La Liga and the RFEF think that the match shouldn’t be played in Barcelona next week and the most likely option seems to be to postpone the match until December 18th, according to a report from MARCA.

Neither FC Barcelona nor Real Madrid have the final decision and if La Liga and the RFEF through the Competitions Committee believe that the match should not take place on October 26th, it just won’t, so the club’s opinion won’t matter.

A decision will be made fairly soon. According to a report from Cadena SER, the RFEF will publish their final decision either today or tomorrow.
