Real Madrid have published an official announcement to state that they’ve reached an agreement with FC Barcelona to suggest December 18th as the date for El Clasico.

In light of the Real Federación Española de Fútbol’s Competition Committee ruling which postpones the match scheduled to be played on Saturday 26th of October between F. C. Barcelona and Real Madrid C. F., and states the clubs must agree a new date for the fixture, Real Madrid wishes to communicate that the date proposed by both said clubs is the 18th of December.

The RFEF will still have the final call on the matter and could very well decide not to play El Clasico then because of the Copa del Rey ties. La Liga president Javier Tebas wanted December 7th as the date because a weekday Clasico could hurt TV revenues and broadcasters in general, so it will be interesting to see if the RFEF actually pays attention to what both Barcelona and Real Madrid agreed upon this Friday.
