Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke delivered his thoughts on defender Achraf Hakimi, who is on a two-year loan deal with the German side. Watzke talked to Suddeustche Zeitung and revealed that his club will try to keep Achraf.
“I just don’t see Achraf in Real Madrid and I don’t have any news about his potential return. I think he feels at home in Dortmund and we’ll do whatever it takes to keep him,” said Watzke when asked about the defender.
Achraf has been impressive in Dortmund. In fact, he scored a brace today. Considering that the right-back spot is quite possibly one of Real Madrid’s weaknesses, it’s clear that Achraf would have room in the squad next season competing with Carvajal for a spot in the starting XI.
In theory, Dortmund don’t have any kind of option to keep Achraf when his loan deal expires, so Real Madrid should have the final decision next June.
