CD Tacon came into this game looking for their second win of the season, but instead were handed their third defeat. Both teams seemed evenly matched from the start, but Levante quickly doubled Tacon’s shots on goal within the first twenty minutes. Tacon had a handful of chances to score, but it seemed like each shot was either from an offside position or into the shins of a Levante defender. The first half ended tied and when the whistle blew for the second half, a different Levante team was on the pitch.
No subs were made at the half, but something seemed to wake them up and they dominated possession more. The first goal came in the first two minutes of the half from Levante’s, Gemma Gili. Tacon quickly used two of their subs with Osinachi Ohale being subbed out due to injury and Lorena Navarro replacing Chioma Ubogagu.
Tacon’s second half chances seemed to go the same way of the first half chances with too many offsides calls or the ball going straight into the hands of the keeper. Levante’s second goal came in the 63rd minute, just minutes after a brilliant diving save from Tacon’s Ana Valles. Sonia Bermúdez (Soni) put the ball in on the far post from her spot outside of the box. After three minutes of extra time, Tacon were still unable to find a goal and spoil Sandra Torres’ clean sheet, but Levante was able to put in their third thanks to a shot from Estefania Banini. CD Tacon dropped from 13th to 14th this match, but still manage to remain one spot out of relegation. There’s a lot of season left, so hopefully they can turn thing around and move up a few spots to the middle of the table before it’s over.
