Theo Hernandez: “I received a lot of criticism when I was in Madrid and I had a bad boy reputation”

The defender says he’s only focused on football now that he’s in Milan.

Former Real Madrid left back Theo Hernandez, who signed for AC Milan this past summer, talked to the Gazzetta Dello Sport and had some words to say about his debut season in Madrid, when he became a massive disappointment for the club and fans alike.

“I had a bit of a bad boy reputation and I received a lot of criticism and even insults. I did some dumb stuff but I grew up as a person and now I am a fun guy but also calm who spends a lot of time at home with my dogs or watching tennis on the TV,” says Theo.

While Theo is right when he says he faced criticism, he should also consider that his performances for Real Madrid during his debut season in the club were simply not good enough. In fact, Los Blancos decided to send him on a loan deal to Real Sociedad and couldn’t take control of the starting spot there.

All in all, his signing became a huge disappointment even though he seemed to be a very interesting prospect when Madrid completed a move for him after a brilliant season with Alaves.
