Real Madrid legend Raul Gonzalez talked to the press after Real Madrid Castilla’s 1-2 loss at home against Racing Ferrol and was asked about Jorge Valdano’s article in El Pais, where the former coach and now football analyst writes that “Real Madrid have found their own Guardiola or Simeone in Raul.”

“My relationship with Jorge has always been special because it’s been 25 years since I made my debut for Real Madrid [with Valdano as the coach]. It’s his personal opinion and I’m trying to do my best so that I can have the chance to coach Real Madrid in the future,” said Raul.

The former striker seems to be quite patient about his future but if his Castilla team does well enough he will surely be considered one of the candidates to replace Zinedine Zidane whenever the club and the French coach part ways.

“I’ve always said that I joined the club as a coach a year and a half ago, I graduated from the courses and here I am. The only thing I can do is to keep working. I’m happy to be at home and working for my club and we’ll see what happens in the future. I’m focused on Castilla and on learning day after day so that these players can learn Real Madrid’s values,” concluded Raul.
