Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has talked to MARCA just days after being subbed off the team’s home match against Club Brugge with a digestive problem. Courtois has been facing criticism during the start of this campaign but he acknowledges that it’s something he will have to embrace if he wants to succeed in Real Madrid.
“If you want to be Real Madrid’s goalkeeper you have to accept this pressure,” said Courtois when asked about his current situation in the club.
The Belgian goalkeeper lost 3kg in just a few days due to his illness and while he’s mostly recovered, it’s unlikely that he starts against Granada this weekend, according to MARCA’s report.
Courtois faced some whistles from Real Madrid’s fans during the match against Brugge and while he has not met the expectations that came with his signing for the club, it seems that he remains confident in his talent. MARCA’s report indicates that he’s still Zidane’s goalkeeper and he should start again right after the upcoming FIFA break.
