After scoring his first goal of the season for Real Madrid, Jovic felt a weight lifted off his shoulders. The striker spoke with Serbian news outlet Sportski zurnal and discussed his goal and the motivation he feels on a daily basis.
“It wasn’t easy, I waited for so long [for the first goal]. I was under great pressure, but I was aware of my quality and I knew it was only a matter of time,” the Serbian stated.
“I was first and foremost motivated by the desire to show the leaders of the biggest club in the world that they were not wrong to bring me here, and also the support of the closest people, who are with me every day.”
Jovic has always been confident in his abilities and believes this goal will be the first of many. “It was a difficult period for me, for my career. Although I have never doubted my quality, nor the people close to me, like my teammates and my coach. The fans were very tough and it wasn’t pleasant to read those articles. I hope they start trusting me more,” Jovic admitted.
The floodgates may now open and Jovic hopes that his goals can help Real Madrid achieve their objectives. “It’s the beginning, I hope that with my goals in the future I will help Real Madrid to achieve all its targets.”
“I’m very happy for the support, we are [the team] very close, we all care only about Real Madrid winning,” he concluded.
Real Madrid’s next match is up against Rubi’s Real Madrid. Luka Jovic will look to start a hot streak and get on the scoresheet once again.
