Nine months ago Santiago Solari was sacked as first team manager of Real Madrid. According to a report from El Laguero, Solari is set for a return to the club he loves, this time in an ambassador role. The Argentine was present, alongside Emilio Butragueño, the director of institutional relations at Real Madrid, during the opening of the 14th year of Real Madrid’s University in the Spanish capital.
During the event, Solari spoke to the students and shared his beliefs on the values of Real Madrid: “Humility, sacrifice and solidarity are key values in sports. These values are incorporated at Real Madrid.” Despite his sacking, Solari still holds Real Madrid and it’s values in the highest regard. “Students are prepared to compete, never back down, try to do their best and never stop learning. The academic development is fundamental to be more competitive to have more options to work and to be a well-rounded person,” Solari told the crowd of students in attedance.
Many believe the ambassador role is temporary until Solari can land a new coaching position. He has been heavily linked with David Beckham’s new MLS Franchise, Inter Miami, but was also one of the leading candidates for the Celta Vigo job prior to Oscar Martinez appointment. Given Solari’s eloquence and ability to speak multiple languages, there is no doubt he will succeed in his new role with Real Madrid.
