Real Madrid and Karim Benzema are set to sign a contract extension for the attacker which would expire in the summer of 2023, according to a report from MARCA. That extension will also increase Benzema’s salary in the club, per that same report.

The French striker has definitely taken a step forward since the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo and has proved himself as one of the undisputed leaders of the team, not only the offensive line. As a matter of fact, he’s also helped young players like Vinicius and Rodrygo both on and off the pitch.

This is great news both for Benzema and Real Madrid as the attacker deserves this contract extension. He will turn 32 years old this December and while he might not be an undisputed starter two seasons from now, it’s clear that he’s shown enough leadership skills to still make an impact and be an important asset even when he enters his decline.
