The strike is on temporary hiatus after one week of missed games. Negotiations have re-opened and a new deadline of December 20th has been set. None of us knew this last night so imagine my surprise waking up to 20 minutes left in the game between CD Tacon and Real Sociedad.
David Aznar fielded his standard 4-4-2 with Lorena Navarro and Sofia Jakobsson up front. Jessica Martinez, Malena Cruz, Aurelie Kaci, and Chioma Ubogagu were in the middle, with a defense consisting of Samara Cruz, Ainoa Campo, Daiane, Babette Peter, and Ana Valles in goal.
Jessica notched the first goal of the game within the first nine minutes. Real Sociedad’s, Ane Etxezarreta fouled Martinez, who was awarded a free kick. She put the ball over the head of the defenders and into the top left corner of the goal, just past María Asunción’s fingertips.

Real Sociedad equalized 28 minutes later when Nerea Eizaguirre hit the goal post and Kiana Palacios put in the rebound.
Three minutes into the second half, CD Tacon took the lead back with a goal from Chioma. Kaci took a shot that deflected to Malena. She passed to Chioma who put it in off the keeper’s hands.
CD Tacon used all four subs within 20 minutes as Jessica, Lorena, Malena, and Daiane all came out for Patricia Carballo, Kosovare Asllani, Thaisa, and Osinachi Ohale, respectively.
The final nail in the coffin came in the 86th minute when Sofia ran down the ball after a long pass and took off. The keeper committed and slid to get the save, but Sofia maneuvered it around her and slotted it in to put Tacon 3-1 up over Real Sociedad.

Though today’s win was only their second of their season, it moved the women up two spots and out of the relegation zone in 13th place with Sevilla and Real Betis, the two who can move them down in the standings, yet to play. You can catch a replay of this game both on the CD Tacon Twitter feed and their Facebook page.
CD Tacon will play UD Granadilla Tenerife Egatesa next week in San Isidro at 4 AM Mountain.
