Kroos: “I’m not sure if Bale will remain with Real Madrid, but we can still use his quality”

Toni Kroos has resurrected his best form this season and has been one of the stand-out performers since Zidane returned. After last night’s demolition of Turkish side Galatasaray, Toni Kroos took some time to speak with Nils Kern of REAL TOAL. The German was asked about one of his best friends in the team, Gareth Bale, given all the recent controversy - a trip out to London for “personal reasons” among others - does Gareth have a long-term future with the club?

“We will need Bale’s qualities a lot more, as the season goes on. I don’t know if he will stay.n summer he was almost gone. Then it’s usually not so easy to continue as normal when both sides have already closed the deal. But he was very motivated and played good games. He helped us with goals. The fact that he came back injured from the national team will bother him the most”, the 29-year-old said candidly.

Many have highlighted the fact that Bale will be in the Welsh squad for the upcoming international break on the 16th and 19th of November, yet he still has not returned to play for Real Madrid since the beginning of October. Kroos can understand that: “Of course it seems stupid to have been with the national team, then to have been outside your club and then to be fit again for your next stay with the national team. Maybe that’s a bit stupid from a timing point of view. I hope that he will be fit again after the international break. And I’m quite sure that we can still use his qualities in many games.”

If Bale can replicate his best form, consistently, for the rest of the season, then there is no doubting his importance to this Real Madrid team. Bale will be looking to take one out of Kroos’ book with the German consistently putting out top level performances. He’s recognized the need to raise his level and add another element to his game: more shots in order to score more goals. After 14 appearances, he has three goals this season. In his previous five season with Madrid he had scored a total of 13 times.

”I’m trying to finish more, which worked quite well recently. A goal scorer from mdifield is needed here and there. Otherwise, I didn’t change my game much. It’s one level higher than last year or in the first four years. I pulled my motivation from the last season, which was not outstanding. My goal was to improve myself personally. At the moment it is working quite well. And I hope that it will work as long as possible,” he commented.

Questions also turned to another midfielder showing some great form, young Fede Valverde. The Uruguayan has always admitted that Toni Kroos is his idol and the German only had positive comments for his young teammate:”He is in great shape. Fede fights, helps us a lot on the defensive, doesn’t lose any balls. He is very good on the ball. I love this player,” Kroos told REAL TOTAL in the mixed zone: “To come here. To play like this at his age means that he has a lot of quality. I’m pretty sure he will have a great future here.”

Real Madrid and Toni Kroos have one more match before the international break where they will take on Jose Luis Mendilibar’s tough Eibar side. The German, and the team as a whole, will be looking to take their excellent form from Wednesday into the weekend.
