CD Tacon (14th; 2-2-5) will face UD Granadilla Tenerife (9th; 3-3-3) at 5 A. M. Mountain time tomorrow at Estadio La Palmera in San Isidro, Tenerife. Both teams are coming off of win sin their last games; ours was against Real Sociedad and theirs was against Real Betis iInterestingly, Tenerife tied Real Sociedad when they faced them, and we tied Betis when we played them).
UDG Tenerife is about the same age as CD Tacon. They came into being prior to the 2013 season and won the second division, but were knocked out in promotion playoffs by a since relegated, Granada. Tenerife finally won promotion after the 2014-2015 season where they knocked out both Real Betis and Levante Las Planas. The team has since spent their seasons in the top 10 of Liga Iberdrola with their lowest ranking being seventh place that first season.
CD Tacon’s head coach, David Aznar, will probably stay with his standard 4-4-2 formation while UDG Tenerife’s head coach, David Amaral (a former midfielder with CD Tenerife) likely will play some variation on a diamond. In his last game against Real Betis, he had a striker up front at the top of the diamond in a 4-1-4-1 formation. However, he could also put out a 4-3-3. Whatever the formations, this will be an interesting match to watch (if we can) because of Tacon’s constant fight to stay out of the bottom two and away from relegation.
