Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane talked in the post-match press conference after his team beat Alaves 1-2 to get the three points in La Liga. The game was very tough for Los Blancos and Zidane was pleased with what he saw from his players.

“We played a very serious game. We knew we needed to fight to earn the three points in a very tough venue and that’s what we did. It’s a very important win but we’re not looking at Sunday’s match between Atletico and Barcelona. It’s so important to win in these stadiums, we played with character,” said Zidane.

Away games are crucial every Liga season. The French coach was asked about that during the press conference and shared his thoughts.

“It’s clear that it’s very important to win in such a tough venue. It’s a very long Liga season but these are three crucial points, even more so considering how the game was developing. They scored the equalizer right after our opening goal, we knew we needed to struggle. We never really changed anything, we know how we have to play in these small venues, with character. We will keep it up because there’s a long season ahead of us,” explained Zidane.

Isco started his second consecutive game and completed a solid performance, although not as brilliant as the one against PSG last Tuesday. If Zidane can recover the Spanish midfielder Los Blancos will have a very interesting asset on their roster.

“We never lost Isco, he’s always been an important player. He delivers in tough moments and today he was sensational once again,” said Zidane.

The French coach wrapped up the press conference saying that consistency is still crucial.

“We’re on it, this is a match which allows us to improve. It was different from every match we’ve had away from home, against an opponent who have been able to make the difference at home and away, we want to keep scoring points,” concluded Zidane.
