Zinedine Zidane’s 19-man squad, along with the entire Real Madrid UEFA Youth League team who have a match against Club Brugge’s Youth Team, have touched down in Belgium in preparation for their respective matches on Wednesday.
Zidane has, perhaps surprisingly, taken an A-team-heavy squad to Ostend which features both Casemiro and Karim Benzema, and a curious omission of Mariano Diaz. Nevertheless, the whites are in Belgium now, where they will have one final training session Tuesday afternoon at the Jan Breydel Stadium before returning to the Van der Valk Hotel.
On Monday, Zidane’s men completed a training session at Valdebebas, where the Frenchman called up Castilla players Diego Altube, Fran Garcia, and captain Alvaro Fidalgo. James Rodriguez trained alone on the pitch as he aims to return before Clasico. Marcelo, Eden Hazard, Lucas Vazquez, and Marco Asensio continued their recovery process behind the scenes. During the session, Zidane focused on pressing and possession before getting to scrimmages on a small area of the pitch.
