Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane talked to the media after the team’s 1-3 win against Brugge in the last game of the Champions League’s Group Stage. Zidane discussed Vinicius’ performance, Casemiro getting 90 minutes and Jovic’s struggles.
“Casemiro played today, that’s it. We will see what happens in our next game, we will see in Valencia. Today he didn’t rest and now it’s not the time to say what’s going to happen. We’re happy with the win, now we have to get some rest and we will think about our next game tomorrow,” said Zidane.
Jovic featured in the starting XI and completed a somewhat poor performance against manageable opposition. This was the perfect opportunity for Jovic to gain some confidence yet it seems that he’s not ready to make an impact.
“Jovic doesn’t feel lost. He completed a good game, but the truth is that he hasn’t played much and a football player has to be consistently involved in order to feel well. He has to keep working the way he’s working and then deliver when his name is called. He’s happy about his game and hopefully he will play more because he needs that, it’s true,” explained the coach, suggesting that he will give him more minutes from now on.
Real Madrid’s next two games in La Liga could very well define their season, given that they’re visiting Valencia and Barcelona.
“I’m not worried, we’re in good form for our next games. They’re beautiful and tough games but we get there in good form, we now have to get some rest and enjoy this win,” said Zidane.
Rodrygo and Vinicius both managed to score and the French coach was happy about their performances.
“We’re happy for Vinicius, for Rodrygo and also for Luka [Modric]. We have to keep it up, because we’re in good form,” concluded Zidane.
