“Odegaard is capable of succeeding in Real Madrid” says Real Sociedad coach

Real Sociedad coach Imanol Alguacil talked to Radio MARCA this Tuesday after what has been a brilliant first half of the season for the Basque side. The main reason behind that encouraging start has been Real Madrid loanee Martin Odegaard, who has proved himself as one of the most exciting talents in La Liga.

Alguacil not only believes that his player is talented enough to be a relevant player in the Spanish competition, he also thinks that he will be successful in Real Madrid.

“We know the kind of player he is but he’s also well surrounded by quality players. He’s a very mature kid who knows the steps he has to take to be successful. He’s capable of succeeding in La Liga and that means he’s capable of succeeding in Real Madrid as well,” said Alguacil.

Odegaard has publicly confirmed that he’d like to stay with Real Sociedad for the 2020-2021 season as well, although some reports from the Spanish press suggest that Madrid would like to bring him back next summer. However, it’s likely that he remains a Real Sociedad player next season unless Real Madrid are willing to give him minutes as a starter.

Real Sociedad are currently fifth in the table, just one point behind Atletico de Madrid. If they keep performing at the level they are right now, Odegaard could even play Champions League football for Real Sociedad next season.
