Another Brazilian Youngster on Real Madrid’s Radar

The 17-year-old attacking midfielder has been tracked by Real Madrid for a number of years

According to Brazilian outlet, GloboEsporte, 17-year-old Reiner Jesus is a potential transfer target of Real Madrid. The player from Flamengo recently signed a new contract which reportedly will see his release clause drop to €35 million. Half of Europe is after the promising teenager, with previous links to Manchester City, Juventus, Barcelona, Roma, Milan, Arsenal, and Everton among others. The operation would be very similar to the deal between Flamengo and Real Madrid for Vinicius Junior back in May of 2017.

This is not the first time Real Madrid and Reiner have been linked. AS reported of the club’s interest in the Brazilian youngster exactly a year ago. The recently crowned Copa Libertadores champion will turn 18-years-old in January. Flamengo have been gradually integrating the player into their team with 15 appearances this season - 8 from the start and 6 as a substitute. During that time, he has played as center attacking midfielder, a left winger, and even as a striker. He has already scored 6 goals and provided 2 assists. Reiner has been a constant presence in the Brazilian youth national teams, playing for the U15, U17, and U23 team.

Given the plethora of young attacking talent already at the club, it’s not clear how concrete Real Madrid’s interest is in the young player. Though, Reiner has not hidden his admiration for Real Madrid and the Santiago Bernabeu in the past...
