Luka Jovic was featured in a TV broadcast interview via a program called Lično Nezvanično, a Serbian network, on his life and adaption to Madrid. In the feature, the striker was very honest, revealing the truth behind his transfer and who he goes to for advice within the Real Madrid dressing room.
“Zinedine Zidane is the one who wanted me at Real Madrid. The negotiations were very complicated between my club and Real Madrid, they almost broke down, but it was Zidane who insisted for me to wear this jersey,” he revealed while on camera.
Despite the lack of minutes in recent matches, it’s clear that Zidane was an admirer of Jovic’s talents and had been keenly aware of his season while at Frankfurt. Fans can rest assure knowing that Zidane has plans for Jovic and that the signing was not made without his stamp of approval.
At just 21-year-old, the striker recognizes that he must be patient. One player who has acted like an older brother to the Serbian is Luka Modric. “My closest friend at Real Madrid is Luka Modrić. I have talked to him about my situation and he reassured me it’s same as when he signed, patience is key and I have that.”
The program also had the chance to briefly interview Luka Modric, who is not the slightest bit worried about Jovic’s future success at Real Madrid. “He (Jović) needs to be patient. He has a great future here and his chances will come. Words from outside shouldn’t affect,” he told Licno.
With upcoming matches against Espanyol and Club Brugge, Luka Jovic should expect some playing time. The striker will be looking to improve on his lone goal tally for the season.
