It looked as if Hazard had escaped a serious injury as the club initially announced that it was a contusion. However, Hazard was still feeling a lot of pain and a second exploration revealed the small fracture Real Madrid confirmed today.
This is very tough news for Real Madrid. Los Blancos will be without their main offensive weapon and arguably their best player, even if he hasn't reached his top form for the club yet.
Without Hazard, it's likely that Gareth Bale and Rodrygo Goes feature in the team's starting lineup. Vinicius will be the team's first option off the bench in case Real Madrid need to turn things around.
Hazard will likely be out until January with this injury, potentially missing the Spanish Supercup as well.
