Real Madrid left-back Ferland Mendy was sent off during the team’s home win against Espanyol and will miss the team’s trip to Valencia next Sunday with a suspension. Mendy saw two yellow cards.
The second one was a huge mistake from the French defender. With the match already 2-0 and only five minutes until the end of the game, Mendy has to know better, especially with Marcelo also out with an injury.
Assuming Marcelo can’t recover in time to face Valencia, Nacho Fernandez will most likely start in Real Madrid’s left side of the defensive line. Zidane could also start Odriozola or Carvajal there as he did in the past, but Nacho seems to have the edge for that spot after recovering from a serious knee injury.
Ferland Mendy will be cleared to play El Clasico against Barcelona. Marcelo will try to recover in time for that crucial game as well.
