Marcos Llorente is officially back. The defensive midfielder put in yet another impressive shift in Girona and capped the performance with a goal.

After the match, Llorente was in the mixed zone talking with Real Madrid TV, “I am very happy because after an injury it’s difficult to return to the dynamic of the team and find rhythm, but I think I am close to the Llorente of December. My situation has changed dramatically and I am very happy and taking advantage of my chances.” Since Santiago Solari’s appointment, Llorente has been given the confidence and the minutes necessary to showcase his true talent. It will be an all out duel between himself and the Brazilian, Casemiro, for the sole defensive midfield spot for the remainder of the season.

Reporters went on to ask Llorente about the Spanish national team as well as the scintillating performance and form of French teammate, Karim Benzema. “To be selected for the national team would be the best thing for me, it would be an honor,” Llorente noted. The questions quickly turned to Karim, who now has 17 goals and 6 assists in 34 appearances including 5 goals in the last week, “There is no other striker like Benzema, he is very important to us. Cristiano? He will always be remember at this club, but we must turn the page. We have three competitions to fight for and we must strive to win each title” he concluded.
