Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas talked to the press after the 1-3 win against Girona in the return leg of the Copa del Rey Quarterfinals. Los Blancos advanced to the Semifinals of the domestic competition after yet another brilliant performance from Karim Benzema, but Navas mostly talked about his current role in the team.

“Every time I’m given the chance to play I give it my very best and we have to stay ready to prove that we can play,” said Navas. “I’m not going out thinking I have to shine, although it’s true that my situation has changed quite a lot, because it’s not easy to play once a month,” added the keeper. “You just have to be mentally strong, I do this for my family, my wife and my children because they are happy to see their daddy playing,” he explained.

“We’re happy because we reached the semifinals, something we had not done lately. Happy to advance,” he said about the win. “We’re calm because we know that we have to beat whoever we draw in order to win the competition,” concluded the goalkeeper.
