Castilla had just come out of a dodgy period of no wins in three games, with two wins on the bounce - but today they had to go toe to toe with a side that looked almost identical in the table. Castilla took all three points from the reverse game, but Leonesa were looking to get the perfect revenge and leapfrog Castilla in the table into the play-off places with a win. Castilla were boosted with the latest return of captain Javier Sánchez, and elsewhere Ayoub Abou and Augusto Galván retained a starting spot. A mere draw would see Castilla reach that all important 40 point mark.

The game-play for this one turned out to be pretty hard to describe. Both teams were looking to play clean football, but neither were really succeeded. What this resulted in was a scrappy mess mixed with a few classy touches here and there. It looked destined for a draw, but that task became difficult when Leonesa broke the deadlock with a goal that mirrored the play. A cross came in and the ball was knocked past Belman before being poked away on the line. It when from difficult to inconceivable when Leonesa bagged a second, this time with a far more intricate finish. The striker was played clean through and delightfully chipped Belman with an alternative lofted technique. Castilla looked to reply instantly but Seoane could only shoot over the bar. Álvaro Fidalgo and Alberto were brought on to change things up, but more importantly - Dani Gómez came on as a last through of the dice from Manolo Díaz. It was the latter who changed the game. To be fair, Alberto did his bit too, providing the skilful assist for Gómez’s first - a well taken finish. This was in the 89th minute, so it still looked a task too much for the youngsters. That didn’t stop them though, as they surged forward throughout injury time. Gómez looked like he had secured the draw, but the keeper did really well to save his effort and give Castilla a corner right at the very end. The corner came in, and was flicked on nicely by Sánchez for Gómez to smash home the equaliser. Jubilation.

This point was hugely significant, as it finally took Castilla to that 40 point mark. This checkpoint means that the team will avoid any form of trouble this season, and can now focus on further aspirations with that added insurance. How genuine a play-off place is from here remains to be seen, but if Castilla can maintain a decent run of results and position in the league table for the next six or so games, then the dreams may really start to become a reality ahead of the last fixture stint of the season. Man of the match today was of course game changer Dani Gómez, who showed how good he can be today in a short amount of time. Hopefully he features more and more from here on out. Castilla make the trip to relegation candidates Navalcarnero next week... May the enthusiasm grow, one game at a time.
