Real Madrid coach Santiago Solari talked to the press after the team’s disappointing 1-2 loss at home against Girona. Los Blancos earned the lead through a header by Casemiro yet Girona managed to come back during a very poor second half from Solari’s men.

“It’s a real shame, we’ve dropped points while our rivals won so we’re further off the pace. We had been on a great run, cutting the gap, and we have to keep getting stronger but we’re three points further back than we were yesterday,” said Solari, who still believes his team has a chance to fight for La Liga title.

“LaLiga isn’t over, absolutely not. We’ll keep fighting on all three fronts still open to us. Every game is difficult, it doesn’t matter who you’re up against, that’s been shown here today. Girona were very well disciplined and we have to keep working hard to try and win games,” added the coach.

Solari made some rotations and players like Vinicius, Vazquez or Carvajal didn’t feature in the starting lineup. When asked about whether he would change anything about his substitutions and rotations, the coach just refused to think about it.

“These are impossible questions. Hypothetical situations, whether past or future, are not something we can address. We make decisions and try our best, sometimes we don’t get the result we want,” concluded the coach, not before saying that he thought Marcelo “did well.”
