Real Madrid will not go after a striker this next summer, according to Il Corriere Dello Sport. Los Blancos are satisfied with Karim Benzema and will focus on a winger instead, especially if Gareth Bale ends up leaving the club.

Mauro Icardi or Paulo Dybala were reportedly on Madrid’s shortlist for the upcoming transfer window but it looks like Benzema has done more than enough to stay as the starting striker going forward.

If this report is accurate, it’s hard to blame the club. How big of an upgrade would Icardi or Dybala be over Benzema? The french striker has led the club this season and Madrid would need to spend big in order to sign either one of those players, so that kind of move wouldn’t make much sense. Instead, it looks like Madrid will try to sign a winger who can also score.

Benzema definitely deserves some trust and the club is willing to give him just that.
