Real Madrid captain and defender Sergio Ramos will not only miss the return leg of the UEFA Champions League against Ajax next week and will also be suspended for the first leg of the Quarterfinals if Madrid clinch their presence in the next round next week, according to reports from both MARCA and AS.

Sergio Ramos saw a yellow card during the first match against Ajax and the defender admitted after the game that he did it on purpose so that he could play with freedom in the next round. However, that’s against UEFA regulations and the European federation decided to suspend the captain for the upcoming two games.

Ramos’ absence will clearly hurt Real Madrid, even in the upcoming return leg against Ajax. Los Blancos have a 1-2 lead on aggregate after their win in Amsterdam but Ajax played very well and Madrid will have to take care of business without their leader.
