Sanz believes Real Madrid will have a female counterpart
Former Real Madrid president Lorenzo Sanz spoke on the potential of Real Madrid having a women’s counterpart with Spanish show Ídolos.
“[They] will end up having a women’s team because all the clubs have one.
“Until now, they haven’t done it because it has not been presented in a way that it could have been done.”
“People have to get used to it little by little as women’s football is also important and interesting.”
It is a bit strange that Real Madrid has yet to establish or affiliate themselves with a women’s team in Spain. Both Barcelona and Atlético have female counterparts, as do many of the other top European clubs throughout the various leagues.
There is a Madrid CFF who also wear white in tribute to Real but have no official affiliation with the club.
It doesn’t really make sense here when Sanz says “it hasn’t been presented in a way that it could have been done” because the other top Spanish clubs both have teams themselves in the women’s Primera Division.
This isn’t really a subject that has been talked about but is an interesting thought now that it has been brought up by Sanz. It’d be surprising in the near future if Real doesn’t have a women’s affiliate, it’s honestly surprising now.
Tagliafico’s agent speaks on Real rumors
The latest rumors floating around are now surrounding Ajax and Argentine left back Nicolas Tagliafico making a move to Real. The person feeding this is his agent, Ricardo Schlieper, after speaking with Argentine station Radio Rivadavia.
“It’s said that Tagliafico’s name has been included on Real Madrid’s shortlist because Marcelo will join Juventus.”
“However, no one’s called me yet even if there have been inquiries from other teams.”
“He has two years left on his contract and he has no release clause, but Ajax have set a minimum price for the top European clubs.”
“Which teams are they? All I can say is that among them, there’s a big Spanish club. That said, I think it’s the right time for Tagliafico to step up a level.”
The Marcelo to Juventus rumors have been around for months now, I’ve addressed them before on here. It’s been consistently pushed that Marcelo wants to be reunited with Ronaldo in Turin.
Tagliafico would only happen if Marcelo really leaves this summer, which who knows what will happen with him not starting every match anymore. Marcelo has been lost this season a bit with his defensive issues and he just doesn’t look great many games.
Reguilón has been able to step in and impress almost every time that he has started with his opportunities. Reguilón is still fairly young and it’s a big commitment if they wanted to go with him as the full-time left back.
Tagliafico would have to fight with Reguilón for the spot, even though there is four more years of experience there with the Argentine. We’ll just have to see what happens, at last for the last two matches, it has been Reguilón’s spot on the left.
Casemiro speaks on loss to Barcelona
Casemiro has spoken out on Real Madrid’s loss in the Copa del Rey’s Clásico this past Wednesday in an interview with AS. He also mentioned Ronaldo.
“We cannot talk about a player who is not here.”
“A week ago we talked about Benzema being the best nine, Vinicius, Lucas… we cannot talk about Cristiano because he’s not a Madrid player.”
“We missed a goal, but the top players are doing everything very well, especially Karim, who is making his best season at Madrid.”
When speaking on the top players he also praised Vinicius and how well he has done so far at such a young age.
While Real Madrid completely collapsed in the second half on Wednesday, which has been a problem for them as of late, the theme of the entire match for the club really seemed to be missed chances. They couldn’t finish their chances, which of course came back to haunt them.
As with most sports, it’s always ‘what have you done for me lately.’ One week Benzema and Vinicius are riding high and being regarded as top talents, the next they’re being blamed for missing chances and the narrative quickly changes.
To change the narrative again, Real need to try and do just that against Barcelona with their second chance El Clásico in LaLiga over the weekend. Hopefully, this one will have a bit of a better result and a much better second half performance.
