Zidane is replacing Santiago Solari, who took over after the club decided to sack Julen Lopetegui. Solari’s Real Madrid fell to Barcelona in the Copa del Rey Semifinals and Ajax in the Champions League’s Round of 16.
While Zidane will coach the team this Tuesday, it’s clear that the club’s effort will be focused on next season. The Frenchman will reportedly have full control of the transfers and could rebuild the squad, so Zidane could use the next few games to see who he can trust going forward. Therefore, players like Ceballos, Isco, Marcos Llorente or Odriozola could get some relevant minutes before the end of the season.
