Inter Milan will not sell Argentinian attacker Mauro Icardi for less than €80 million and that’s exactly what Real Madrid will need to spend if they want to sign him, according to a report from Spanish newspaper AS.
Still, that price could be even higher if any other club decides to make a move for Icardi, per that same report.
Icardi has been rumored to be on Real Madrid’s radar for quite some time and Los Blancos might indeed try to get some reinforcements for their offensive line next summer. However, Benzema has always been a key player for coach Zinedine Zidane and it’s quite unlikely that Madrid spend that much money on a backup striker even if they need that kind of player.
Benzema and Icardi could play together if Zidane decides to use a 4-4-2 formation. What’s clear is that Madrid need a pure goalscorer and Icardi fits that role, although nothing seems certain about the rumors suggesting that the Argentinian player will end up in Madrid next season.
