Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane talked to the press after France’s 1-4 win against Moldavia this past Friday. Varane denied the rumors suggesting that he wants to leave Real Madrid this upcoming summer.

“I’m a very calm person and when that happens the big problem is that people like to write and talk about me and I hear and read so many things. I’m in Real Madrid, the world’s biggest club,” said Varane.

“To say that I am not happy there isn’t true. My career, my season... we had a difficult season where we had to fight and I gave it my all and I am proud of that. I cannot control every rumor, it’s just a lie,” he added.

This is a fairly strong denial from Varane, who is still 25 years old and will be expected to lead Real Madrid’s defensive line when Sergio Ramos decides to retire. Varane is already the team’s fourth captain and a very valuable asset for Madrid.
