Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois spoke to Onda Cero in an interview last night and revealed that Chelsea winger Eden Hazard wants to join Real Madrid.
“Eden is one of my best friends in football. I don’t know if he will sign for Madrid or if the club wants him but he’s a great player. I’m not the one making those decisions. To me, he’s one of the world’s greatest and as a friend I’d like for him to be here. Do you ask me if he wants to come? Yes, he does,” said Courtois, who was Hazard’s teammate in Chelsea.
Hazard has often said that he dreamed of playing for Real Madrid but now one of his closest friends has confirmed that the winger wants to sign for the club. Both the player and the club appear to be keen on such a move and Real Madrid will most likely try to negotiate with Chelsea next summer given that Hazard’s contract with the London-based club expires in 2020.
Courtois has apparently lost his spot as Real Madrid’s starting goalkeeper but he will keep working hard.
“I respect the coach’s decisions, he talked to me about it. In football and Madrid everyone works to start. I’m young and have room for improvement, so I have to work hard and show the coach that I’m also a great goalkeeper. I came here for so many years and also to win titles,” said Courtois.
“I don’t regret my move to Real Madrid, this is a club I always wanted to join. It’s a privilege to defend that goal. I noticed that I was in the best club right after the very first minute,” he added.
