Real Madrid have released an official report on Dani Carvajal’s injury status:

After the tests carried out today by the Real Madrid Sanitas Medical Services on our player Dani Carvajal, he has been diagnosed with a grade 2 injury to the rectus femoris muscle in his right thigh. The player’s situation will continue to be monitored.

The Real Madrid right back joins Vinícius Júnior and Lucas Vázquez on the injury list, who had to come off the field midway through the Champions League disaster vs. Ajax.

It’s a thoroughly dispiriting way to end the season (and it is over, despite the fact that we are only in March), but Odriozola will have a chance to step up in the immediate future and continue his promising development. Up front, Marco Asensio is sure to get more game time, though it remains to be seen who the first option behind Gareth Bale will be. Isco seems unlikely, so the forgotten Brahim Díaz might finally get some precious minutes.
