Tottenham coach Mauricio Pochettino talked to Television Española and addressed the rumors suggesting that he’s on Real Madrid’s radar to coach the team next season.
“Of course I’d come back to Spain. I’m always open to new projects and hopefully one day I’ll be there playing good and winning football,” said Pochettino about a potential return to Spain.
“It’s clear that people think we’re doing a good job in Tottenham. It was a great achievement to finish third last season and reaching the Champions League Quarterfinals. Perhaps this interview will make my president angry or maybe not, maybe he’ll be happy about it,” added the coach.
It’s clear that Pochettino never mentioned Real Madrid specifically when he said that he’s hoping to be in Spain one day. However, it looks like Madrid could be very interested even if he is under contract with Tottenham until June 2023, meaning that Florentino Perez would have to negotiate with Daniel Levy to sign Pochettino.
