Real Madrid attacker Karim Benzema scored a late goal to give his team the win against Huesca. He also assisted Dani Ceballos in Madrid’s second goal, completing a very solid all-around performance and proving why this is most likely the best season he’s ever played since he signed for Los Blancos back in 2009.
Right after the game, Benzema’s teammates praised his effort.
“He’s having his best season at Real Madrid. He’s carrying the team at crucial moments. Today he was involved in the three goals: he got the better of their man in the first, got the assist in the second and score a fantastic goal for the third to give us the win,” said Ceballos. ”We tried until the end and thanks to a work of art from Benzema, we got the three points”, he added.
Right-back Alvaro Odriozola, who started the game, also shared his thoughts about the French attacker.
“Benzema is the best No.9 in the world and that’s nothing new to me. When you need him, he steps up and he scored a stunning goal tonight,” said Odriozola.
Coach Zinedine Zidane, who has always admired Benzema’s style of play, also wanted to praise his player.
“He’s a player who has been here for many years now and he’s doing well. This has perhaps been his best season. We’re happy with him. There are nine games to go and I’ll be counting on him. Karim is our player and I can’t see that changing,” explained the coach.
Benzema has scored 23 goals and delivered 9 assists this season. Not only he’s been scoring efficiently this season, he’s also leading Real Madrid’s offensive line with his creativity. If Madrid can surround him with a solid goalscorer through the wings and Benzema can keep this up, Los Blancos will be a threat next season.
