Portuguese sensation Joao Felix would be on Real Madrid’s radar, according to a report from MARCA. The newspaper indicate that Los Blancos tried to sign Joao Felix two years ago after the young attacker scored a brace against Guti’s Juvenil team in the UEFA Youth League.

Joao Felix is still 19 years old but has a €120 million release clause on his deal with Benfica. Two Premier League clubs have expressed their interest in the player and Benfica president Luis Filipe Vieira wants to increase that release clause to €200 million.

Still, Madrid are just “paying attention” to Joao Felix’s progress, per MARCA’s report. Los Blancos have many players who need minutes to develop and the signing of the Portuguese wonder kid would take playing time away from other young prospects like Vinicius, Rodrygo or Marco Asensio.

Joao Felix’s 15 goals and 6 assists in his first season playing elite football are definitely hard to overlook, though. If Benfica can’t increase his release clause, it would not be shocking to see big clubs in the Premier League making that kind of effort for such a promising player.
