Real Madrid’s Thibaut Courtois and Mariano Diaz rejoined the squad in training this Monday and will be available when Los Blancos visit Getafe next Thursday. Both players have recovered from the injuries they picked up lately and coach Zinedine Zidane will have the chance to give them minutes if that’s what he decides to do.
The situation with Courtois is particularly interesting given that reports published in the Spanish press suggest that Real Madrid will keep him as the starting goalkeeper and part ways with Keylor Navas at the end of the season. If that’s the plan, Zidane could and should give him minutes from no on.
On the other hand, Mariano probably needs to play regularly to regain some confidence, at least if the club wants to keep him. His season has been disappointing —full of injuries too— and Madrid could be looking elsewhere if they feel they need to upgrade their offensive line.
