Martin Ødegaard has been a hot topic the past few days. After confirming that his agent is talking with Real Madrid, it was reported by De Telegraaf that negotiations between Ajax and Real Madrid have taken place over a 20 million transfer.

Though, in a report from Spanish publication Marca today, those claims have been refuted. Real Madrid have made it clear that Ødegaard is not for sale. The likeliest option is another loan, which could still pique the interest of Ajax.

At only 20 years of age, the Norwegian is one of the brightest talents on Madrid’s books. It would be highly unlikely that any type of transfer this summer would not include the option to return. Be it from a loan or a buy-back clause, Madrid will likely retain the rights to their asset. The priority for both club and player is for Martin Ødegaard to continue developing.
