Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane shared his thoughts after the team’s 1-0 loss against Rayo Vallecano this Sunday. Madrid completed an abysmal performance and it was easy to see that Zidane didn’t like what he saw from his players.
“I always defend my players, but not today,” said Zidane. “We did nothing at any level. Sometimes you fail to score, but we didn’t do anything at all. I’m angry because it’s a bad look, and I’m responsible,” he added.
”It was all bad, our attitude and the game overall. We gave nothing. Not in the duels, running or anything. Rayo played, but we did nothing,” repeated the coach when asked about the game.
Zidane said that there are no positives from this game.
“There are none. We’ve got three games to go and the season will be over and that’s that. In the Getafe game there was something there, we created a bit of play and some chances. We did some good things against Athletic, but there was nothing out there tonight, zero,” explained the coach.
Zidane also admitted that he’s happy about making his return to Real Madrid before the end of the season, quite possibly suggesting that he has made sure that he needs to make changes to this team.
“No, not at all, quite the opposite. I’m here and I had to experience this too, critical and difficult time, but we just can’t play like that,” concluded the coach.
