Real Madrid attacker Rodrygo Goes, who will join the club next summer hoping to stay as a member of the first team for next season, talked in an interview with MARCA and shared his thoughts and expectations.

“Madrid is the world’s biggest club, the best. That’s why when Real Madrid became interested in my signing I didn’t even think about it, I stopped listening to other teams. Every single thing surrounding this club is good and I made my mind right away,” said Rodrygo.

“This year I tried to think only about Santos. Of course it’s hard, even more so if we consider that it’s Real Madrid we’re talking about. You know you are already a Real Madrid player and it’s hard not to think about it. I’ve tried to think only about Santos and to keep developing so that I am a better player when I join Madrid,” explained the attacker.

Rodrygo visited the Santiago Bernabeu early this season and was impressed, to say the least.

“I was delighted, very very happy. It’s such a beautiful stadium. I visited a stadium I only knew because of the TV and I was dreaming of playing there one day. It was a dream come true. It’s very tall and I imagined the fans singing my name and celebrating my goals,” reveals the striker.

Rodrygo is a versatile attacker and he talked about his favorite position.

“I like to play through the wings, but I also enjoy playing in the center, whatever the coach likes best. The important thing is to play, but my favorite position is on the wing,” says Rodrygo.

He also talked about his relationship with Vinicius, who has already earned a spot in Real Madrid after just one season.

“As players we share some skills, we are similar. We both are quick and like to dribble and score goals. He’s a very happy guy, he’s always smiling and ready to crack a joke. I’ve enjoyed playing alongside him with the national team and I will love to play with him in Madrid. He brings joy to the team. When he got injured against Ajax I felt as if I was the one injured, we’re very good friends, we talk a lot and he was very sad,” reveals Rodrygo.

The Brazilian attacker also spoke about his future coach Zinedine Zidane.

“I can only say good things about having him as a coach. He’s won it all in Real Madrid and that’s the best thing we can have to learn from him. I am sure he will get the best out of me,” said Rodrygo.

The Brazilian wonder kid seems a very mature kid even though he’s still 18 years old.

“That’s how you have to be, you have to be focused and think about what you have to do. I try to pay attention to what I am doing,” he says. “I am a hard working guy and it’s been like that my whole life.”

“To the fans I say that I have a tremendous desire to win and that’s what Real Madrid have always done. I will give it all for this shirt, I am fulfilling my dream and I will not disappoint anyone. I hope to bring joy to the fans and I will work hard for that,” concludes the attacker.
