In one of the worst seasons in Real Madrid’s history, Marcelo has been one of many players below their best level. Though, with the return of Zinedine Zidane hope has been restored for the likes of Isco, Casemiro, Modric, and of course Marcelo. There is no guarantee that any of those players will remain in Zidane’s plans for next season, but reports from Spanish media have suggested that Marcelo is on the Frenchman’s go-forward list. In an interview with Brazilian outlet, Sportingbet.tv, Marcelo spoke at length on Zidane's return. “I’m very happy with Zidane’s return but it’s not only me, also the club officials, Madrid and everyone. Zidane is adored. Sometimes I would do anything for him. I’m very happy with his return. He makes everything easy for everyone, it’s easy to talk to him”, the Brazilian confessed.

Marcelo turns 31 in two days (May 12th) and will be working to prove he still has a few years of his best football remaining at Real Madrid. Under Solari, the Madrid legend looked destined for the exit door, but with Zidane’s return, hope springs eternal. “It’s not only that he used to be a player, he was the best of all in his time. He wasn’t normal, he was very brave. And as a manager, in a very short time, he became great also” he concluded. If Marcelo is to rekindle his best form, there is likely no manager better suited to providing the Brazilian with the necessary confidence, than Zidane. Their is a mutual admiration between both Marcelo and Zidane. The Madrid faithful will hope that relationship reaps rewards in the form of silverware next season for Real Madrid.
